There is a wide
range of both antique and contemporary silver jewellery from Tibet,
Afghanistan and India.
Some of the antique silver bracelets and pendants come from
Turkmenistan and date from the latter part of the 19th century. The
contemporary necklaces are made from semi-precious stones such as
lapis lazuli, carnelian and jade, all stones mined in Afghanistan.
The larger necklaces pictured here are designed by Harriet. They
contain beads from Central Asia, Tibet and Senegal in West Africa
and can be made to order.
Glass vases from India come in a range of sizes both in clear glass,
“bubble” glass and smokey tinted glass. They make wonderful gifts.
The blue glass comes from the ancient
city of Herat on the Afghanistan/Iran border and is made using
recycled glass. The turquoise blue is produced using a secret
ingredient which the last glass blower in Afghanistan will not
divulge!
