Harriet Sandys first started her business in London in 1983 selling
carpets, kilims and decorative items from Afghanistan and India. During the 1980’s she made frequent visits to the bazaars of northern Pakistan and to the desert villages of Rajasthan buying artefacts for her business. Now based in Somerset, Harriet has continued to maintain her links with and interest in Afghanistan and now specialises in selling contemporary carpets and the beautiful embroideries of Uzbekistan known as Susanis. Harriet strongly believes that the natural dyes and exceptional craftsmanship used in these modern weavings and embroideries make these pieces the antiques of the future.
The restored 17th century cider barn
with oak beams and stone walls provides the perfect setting for exhibiting
these pieces. The barn is open for viewings several times a year and also
by appointment. If you don't find what you are looking for on one visit,
you probably will find it on the next. |
